Ohio residents and travelers are facing a series of road closures and lane restrictions as the state invests in infrastructure improvements. From micro-surfacing to bridge rehabilitation, the projects are expected to enhance safety and longevity of the roadways.
In Allen County, Interstate 75 will see periodic lane restrictions between National Road in Cridersville and 4th Street in Lima from July 26 to August 28. This is part of a micro-surfacing project aimed at preserving the road's integrity. Additionally, I-75 between 4th Street and Stewart Road will be reduced to one lane from August 24 to 28 for pothole patching.
State Route 66 in Auglaize County has recently reopened after a closure for full-width paving. However, the State Route 66/Main Street intersection in Delphos will close from September 16 to 20 for the annual Canal Days festival. In Putnam County, State Route 65 in the village of Leipsic will be closed from September 18 to 20 for a village festival.
The State Route 115 and Cole Street intersection, about one mile south of U.S. 30, will be closed for approximately 60 days for the construction of a roundabout. Meanwhile, the intersection of State Route 117 and State Route 501 in Auglaize County will be closed from July 13 to September 21 for roundabout construction. Detours are in place to minimize the impact on traffic.
In the city of Delphos, the bridge over Flat Fork Creek between Main Street and Franklin Street closed on August 3 for a bridge rehabilitation project, expected to last 75 days. A detour is in place via Franklin Street to Jackson Street to Grant Street and back to Cleveland Street.
In Auglaize County, the shoulder near the I-75 Northbound Rest Area will be closed from August 24 to 28 for ditch work. Interstate 75 will also see intermittent overnight lane closures from May 18 to mid-August 2026 for cable rail installation.
State Route 29 in St. Marys will be reduced to a single lane intermittently from March 16 through September 2026 for sidewalk installation and signal upgrades. Similarly, State Route 67 between East Street and Wayne Street will have lane restrictions from May 4 through September 2026 for repaving.
The bridge on State Route 219 between CR 95 and Bay Road closed on May 18 for approximately 90 days for reconstruction. In Hardin County, State Route 37 at the Hancock and Hardin County line will be closed from August 31 for 45 days for a culvert replacement.
In Van Wert County, U.S. 30 is restricted to one lane in each direction due to the U.S. 30/John Brown Road restricted crossing U-turn construction. Access to U.S. 30/John Brown Rd is also restricted to right-in/right-out movements only. The intersection of U.S. 224 and Lincoln Highway is closed for roundabout construction, and the U.S. 224 bridge rehabilitation project is also in progress.
These projects are part of a broader effort to improve Ohio's transportation infrastructure, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for all. While closures and lane restrictions may cause inconvenience, they are necessary steps in the long-term plan to maintain and upgrade the state's roadways.
