Arizona Lottery Releases Winning Numbers for Sept. 9 Drawings Along with Prize Claim Guidelines

Arizona lottery participants checked their tickets following the Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026 drawings, as state lottery officials released the official winning combinations for a full lineup of multi-state and localized draw games. The evening drawings included the nationwide Powerball along with state-specific staples such as The Pick, Fantasy 5, Triple Twist, and the evening edition of Pick 3.

In the multi-state Powerball drawing, the winning white ball numbers drawn were 09, 40, 42, 55, and 65. The red Powerball number was 23, and the Power Play multiplier for the drawing was established at 2. Powerball drawings are routinely conducted three times each week—every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday—taking place promptly at 7:59 p.m. Arizona time.

Players participating in Arizona’s flagship state game, The Pick, also received their results for the Sept. 9 drawing. The winning sequence drawn for The Pick was 02, 08, 09, 18, 20, and 40. This state jackpot game remains a central component of the Arizona Lottery's localized offerings alongside several other regular drawings.

For players following Arizona's recurring terminal games, the Fantasy 5 drawing produced the winning numbers 01, 02, 05, 20, and 39. Simultaneously, the Triple Twist game results yielded the winning numbers 02, 03, 04, 05, 26, and 38, providing participants across the state with additional opportunities to secure cash prizes.

Rounding out the evening's results was the Pick 3 game, which generated the winning sequence 7-2-9 for its evening drawing. These diverse game formats collectively offer varying prize sizes, odds, and play styles to suit the preferences of different lottery participants across Arizona.

Participating in the Powerball game within Arizona requires an entry fee of $2 per play. To enter a standard game, ticket buyers must pick five numbers from a pool ranging from 1 to 69 for the white balls, accompanied by one number selected from a field of 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. Players can either manually mark their chosen digits on an official play slip or opt for the lottery terminal to randomly generate their selections via a quick pick.

Ticket holders can also enhance non-jackpot winnings by opting for the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play. This multiplier feature can increase lower-tier payouts by 2, 3, 4, 5, or up to 10 times. The maximum 10-times multiplier becomes active during drawings where the advertised starting jackpot is $150 million or less.

Powerball features nine distinct prize tiers designed to award payouts depending on the number of matches achieved. Matching all five white balls plus the red Powerball secures the game’s Grand Prize. Matching all five white balls without the red Powerball awards a standard second-tier prize of $1 million, while matching four white balls alongside the red Powerball yields a prize of $50,000.

Mid-tier and lower-tier payouts offer fixed returns across various combinations. A match of four white balls or three white balls plus the red Powerball awards $100. Correctly matching three white balls alone or two white balls plus the red Powerball results in a $7 prize. Finally, players who match either one white ball plus the red Powerball or the red Powerball by itself are entitled to a $4 payout.

For players holding winning tickets, the Arizona Lottery enforces specific prize redemption protocols based on the total cash value won. Every authorized Arizona Lottery retailer is equipped to pay out prizes valued up to $100, and retailers have the discretion to redeem winnings up to $599 on-site.

When prize values exceed $599, players cannot collect their funds at standard retail counters and must instead process their claims directly through the Arizona Lottery. Claimants can choose between submitting their winning documentation through the postal service or presenting the materials in person at a designated regional office.

To submit a claim by mail, winners are instructed to send a fully filled-out winner claim form, the original winning lottery ticket, and a legible photocopy of a valid government-issued photo identification to P.O. Box 2913, Phoenix, AZ 85062. Before mailing or presenting any ticket, players must sign the back of the physical ticket to establish legal ownership.

Those choosing to claim prizes in person have several official lottery office locations across the state. In the Phoenix metropolitan area, the main office is situated at 4740 E. University Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85034, reachable by phone at 480-921-4400. Operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays, this primary facility is authorized to validate and cash claims of any monetary amount.
